Arabella is our first kid to learn to crawl in a house, the others were in an apartment where we never had to worry about stairs. I used a baby gate for a little while when we moved here for Annika but she learned how to get up and down the stairs pretty quick. Well I hadn't pulled out the baby gate yet, and now I feel horrible! I was trying to teach MacKayla how to tie a shoe and Bella was playing with her toys. I had only looked away from her for a second and the next thing I heard was a thunk. She had gone down the stairs. I ran as fast as I could and made it to the bottom of the stair just as she did. The poor kid was hysterical. Thankfully she is fine, but I was freaked out. All she needed was a little bit of mommy cuddles and she was as good as new.
The others have each fallen down the stairs several times, but at least they were older when it happened. Oh well, now the baby gate is up and hopefully this won't happen again, or at least not until she is older.

Meh, don't worry about it. I once knocked my niece down our stairs with a baby carrier/car seat. She's fine. The limp is minimal :).
I think everyone's kids have done it. We haven't bought a gate yet for our two sets of stairs. All of my children have fallen down the stairs multiple times. I'm just grateful kids are so resilient. You are a good mom, no doubt about it!
I was going to say meh too. Carl told me about it. All I could think was "oops." We had to get a baby gate when Abigail started getting mobile because of the helmets and surgery. One fall on the back of her head, and that surgery would have been for nothing. Yeah. That would have been an expensive, traumatic nothing. Glad Bella is okay.
Most kids usually only fall down the stairs once. They learn to stay away or go down them. I say teach them to go down. The best thing about them being so little is that they usually just go floppy down instead of stiffening up which is when they actually get hurt. Glad she's ok!
